(St. Pete, FL 9.5.15) – Patrick Staropoli and the Star Racing team made their return to super late model competition on Saturday night in a big way.
After enduring 3 consecutive rain outs and having not raced in over a year, Staropoli put the #97 on the pole for the feature race with a 13.96 second lap time. With the inversion, he rolled off 3rd for the main event. The top-4 checked out from the field and lapped all the way up to the 6th position. A caution with 3 to go setup a frantic green-white-checkered, and when the dust settled Staropoli scored a strong 2nd place finish.
“I’m just thrilled to be back out here,” Staropoli said afterwards. “It’s been a challenge to get back on track and to come out this strong says a lot. I have to thank my family and friends for supporting me and PEAK, Paul’s Transmissions, and HMS Motorsports for keeping us rolling.”
