Citrus County, FL (5.20.24) — Patrick Staropoli, driving the #64 Super Late Model for Jim McCoy Racing, secured his first victory of the season in the highly anticipated Sunoco Challenge Series race at Citrus County Speedway this past Saturday night.
Staropoli qualified 4th for the event, just 0.02 seconds off the pole position. In the first 50 lap dash he finished third after battling a loose racecar. The JMR team went to work in between races and made a few key adjustments to improve the handling of the #64 Umatilla Veterans Village Chevrolet. After starting second and battling in the top 3 for a majority of the race, Staropoli passed Jared Irvan for the lead with under 15 laps to go and took the checkered flag ahead of Jesse Dutilly and George Gorham.
The JMR 64 Chevy is supported by Umatilla Veterans Village, Driving to Fight Blindness, Sunoco, Southern Race Fuels, Gator Plumbing, Shadow Graphics, WAR Shocks, and Clattenburg Racing Fabrication.
Patrick will now switch gears in preparation for his debut in the SMART Modified Tour with Coulter Motorsports on May 24th at Franklin County Speedway. The JMR Super Late Model will return to action on June 1st at Auburndale Speedway.
