Roseville, CA– If you’ve never heard of Patrick Staropoli, he was the recent Peak Challenge Winner which gave him the opportunity to pilot a Toyota Camry from BMR in the Toyota/NAPA AUTO PARTS 150 at Spokane County Raceway. Not only did he get to pilot the No. 99 Peak Toyota Camry but he was also teammates with three-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series West champion Eric Holmes, and two-time Daytona 500 race winner, Michael Waltrip. Staropoli went on to record an impressive top-five finish in his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Race.
Michael Waltrip made his first visit to Spokane County Raceway this past weekend. He made several appearances prior to the race including to the surprise of some NAPA AUTO PARTS customers, making some parts deliveries for the local Spokane NAPA AUTO PARTS store. The fan favorite did not disappoint at the track as well; spending time with the fans prior to the event and after. Waltrip piloted the No. 20 NAPA Filters Toyota Camry finishing just outside of the top-ten.
The 2011 winner of the West race in Spokane, Eric Holmes, driver of the familiar blue-and-gold No. 16 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota qualified on the inside of row two for the 150-laps race. At lap 45, Holmes was running in the second position. He would continue to run in the top-four when the No. 16 NAPA Toyota began experiencing a handling problem. He made an unscheduled pit stop where the crew repaired a left front shock which had developed a mechanical problem. Holmes would go several laps down finishing in 18th.
